“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”

Holistic healing of mind and body
Hello! What a courageous step you are taking in your healing journey to seek therapy. Welcome. Therapy is a space to expand what is going on in your life, notice your coping mechanisms with less judgment and more curiosity, decide and move towards your personal values and find freedom. I take a mind-body approach to healing with an eclectic style of therapy that emphasizes the innate worthiness of us all. We could be a good fit if you are looking to explore the impact of past experiences on your here and now body sensations, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
I have a dual degree in Clinical Psychology and Nutrition with specializations in trauma treatment and utilize eclectic bottom-up therapies including Somatic Experiencing Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I have been honored to work in inpatient and outpatient eating disorder, addiction, and mental health treatment centers and with transgender females within a male prison system which has emphasized the need for social justice oriented, inclusive therapy.
You belong here. I am committed to supporting you across all intersections of identity and I strive to be multiculturally competent through advocacy, self education with self identity exploration, and truly listening to others’ experiences. I welcome those across the global majority, the LGBTQ+ community, people of all body sizes, adult ages, and abilities, all religious and non-religious beliefs, practices, and culture, women, and immigrants. Part of my role is to help you work towards self love and acceptance in order to de-internalize stigmas and learn to fully celebrate and advocate for yourself. These are powerful tools against the impact of discrimination and marginalization in health care and in our society.
As a nutritionist and mental health counselor, I am committed to Health at Every Size ® and Body Trust to heal from the traumatic impact of weight bias and stigma and regain innate body wisdom and connection. Our relationship to food and nourishment shares a lot about our relationship to ourselves. As needed, I am passionate about helping you find peace within your relationship with food and your body through collaborative and intuitive integration of nutrition and mental health counseling. From a trauma perspective, nourishment is an important part of helping with nervous system regulation, reduction of inflammation, and increasing acts of self-compassion.
On a personal note, in my time outside of work, I can be found around town with my wife and kiddo at various coffee and tea shops, parks, playgrounds, and sidewalk dining. I love cooking, fermenting, audio book listening, lounging, hiking, kayaking, and patio gardening.
