Hello and welcome. If you have made it here, you have already taken the first step in lightening your load. With collaboration, curiosity, and encouragement we can move towards a healed and functional self. You deserve to be treated as a human capable of a great range of emotions, and every part of you is worthy of space. Together we will take action by practicing skills, strategies, and self advocacy. We do so with careful intention and consideration of your nervous system and capacity. My approach is person-centered because every individual responds differently to therapy and my goal is to meet you where you are. We could be a good fit if you are looking to explore your inner child experiences and connect them to your current body, mind, and relationships.
About me:
I have a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and utilize a clinical therapeutic approach that is relational and person-centered, drawing from evidence based approaches such as trauma informed Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing. My experience has equipped me to work with clients with a wide range of issues including trauma, ADHD, ASD, anxiety/panic, eating and self esteem issues, depression, and major life transitions. Oftentimes we are working through co-occurring issues with mental health; neurodivergence, LGTBQIA+ identities, and the systems we exist in.
I am gracious to have worked with foster youth and at-risk youth. The perspectives of children struggling through trauma, addiction, and discrimination from families, peers, schools, and agencies emphasized the need for generational healing through social justice oriented, inclusive, and strength-based trauma therapy. As a mental health counselor, I am committed to breaking generational trauma at all levels in a supportive, safe space. This includes working with young adults exploring the impact of their childhoods and parents or parents to be who are healing from your own past and are noticing the impact of your trauma responses on your emotions, body, thoughts, and behaviors; particularly as they show up in your relationships. Identifying these patterns is the first brave step in breaking the cycle. The next steps involve healing your nervous system and building your self-compassion to “put on your oxygen mask first”. Relationships within and out of your household will improve as we build a more regulated and resilient nervous system. I am passionate about making space for relief, joy, and function in family relationships even as they face multigenerational mental health concerns, life transitions, and hardship.
You belong here:
I am committed to supporting you across all intersections of identity and I strive to be multiculturally competent through advocacy, self-education with self-identity exploration, and learning by listening to others’ experiences. I welcome those across the globe, immigrants, the LGTBTQIA+ community, humans of all body sizes, abilities, all religious and non-religious beliefs, practices, and culture. An integral part of my role is to aid you in your journey to self-awareness, acceptance, and releasing stigmas and learn to fully celebrate yourself and feel empowered to self-advocate. With these tools and new found agency you will become resilient against the impact of discrimination and marginalization in health care and society.
Outside of work:
I am in the outdoors any way I can be. I am likely with my dogs, either gardening, hiking, swimming, snowshoeing, or paddleboarding. I appreciate the beauty around me with painting and drawing. Inside, I love to read, cook and make recipes, play board games, and play video games of all kinds. While all these can be therapeutic at times, nothing helps me more than the right playlist.
